Buying guns: credits

The order that employs you runs an in-house credit system. On your first visit the handler transfers some starting credits and has you buy and collect your first pistols at the loadout terminal. After that, credits come from finishing contracts and from stacks lying around the levels; recorded runs pick up 50- and 100-credit stacks. Heavier guns sit on a separate large-weapons wall that opens up as you progress.

Attachments

The tutorial has you fit a suppressor from the attachment section, and once you own an attachment you can put it on or take it off whenever you like. Official screenshots show sights, weapon lights, lasers and slide options on pistols. The achievements give away the slot counts: pistols and rifles take up to 4 attachments, shotguns 2, and the bow has a set of its own.

The weapon modification table

Put a gun on the table in The Hive to restyle it with a spray kit, which you have to find first (one was left lying on the Hive's upper floor in a recorded run), or to swap its firing sounds for both silenced and unsilenced shots. One reviewer counted over 70 sound options per gun.

Holsters and reloading

Ammo and bullet penetration

Incendiary rounds are in the game, shown in Devlog #08 and in reviews of the shotgun. Bullets also penetrate cover: the Hive's penetration station lets you test each gun against glass, wood, metal and stone, and shots through enemies leave exit wounds.

Knives, melee and the bow

Knives you find in the field can be brought back to the Hive's knife rack, and Knife Collector asks for 3 of them. You can also pistol-whip enemies or grab a knife from a nearby kitchen in a pinch, although several reviewers found melee sticky. The compound bow is sold separately from the guns and has its own attachment set; 1.3% of players own it fully kitted out.

Weapons FAQ

How many weapons are in Gunman Contracts?

The store page lists 18 unlockable weapons with per-weapon attachments, plus a compound bow and knives. No public list names all 18 yet.

How do you unlock new guns?

Buy them with credits at the loadout terminal in The Hive. Credits come from finishing contracts and from stacks you pick up inside the levels.

How do you quick reload in Gunman Contracts?

Bring a pistol close to your chest and it reloads itself; the tutorial prompts you to do this. You can also reload by hand, taking magazines from the chest rig.

Can you dual wield?

Yes, dual pistols are one of the most praised parts of the game. One player reports that the second pistol shares the first one's firing sound.
