How to Play Gunman Contracts on Quest 3 (PC VR)

Is Gunman Contracts on Quest 3?

Not as a standalone app. Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone is sold on Steam for Windows, and its VR mode runs through SteamVR/OpenXR on a PC. There is no Meta Store listing and no official APK, so any site offering a Quest APK is not legitimate.

The name causes the confusion. “Stand Alone” means the game no longer needs Half-Life: Alyx, which the original mods did; it does not mean it runs on a standalone headset. Quest owners said as much on Reddit when the base was first shown: they assumed it was a Quest game until it turned out to be PC VR.

What you need

  • A Quest 3, 3S or 2.
  • A Windows PC that meets the VR spec on Steam: Intel Core i7-12700, 16 GB RAM, RTX 3060 or better, 20 GB of storage, Windows 10 64-bit.
  • The game on Steam.
  • One of the connection methods below.

UploadVR reviewed the game on a Quest 3S over Steam Link at medium settings, and Gamertag VR says it ran very well over Virtual Desktop on his PC. A Wolf in VR also played on a Quest 3S as PC VR.

If the game will not go into VR

Several Quest players on the Steam forum got a black screen or saw the game stay on the monitor. Two fixes worked:

  1. In Steam, open the game’s Properties (gear icon) and set the launch option to VR mode.
  2. Start the game from inside Virtual Desktop instead of from the desktop.

Settings that help on Quest

  • Brightness: there is no in-game gamma slider at launch, and the game is dark. One player raised the brightness on the headset itself.
  • Resolution: set the render resolution in SteamVR or your streaming app; there is no DLSS or FSR in the game yet.
  • Seated play: there is a seated mode and a height setting. One Quest 2 player reports height recalibrating when clicking menu buttons, a known bug.

Will there be a Quest version?

Nothing has been announced as of September 11, 2026. The developer is a solo creator working through Early Access on PC; if that changes, the platforms page will say so.
